Dear Juno (or any other teen who happens to find themselves in the same situation), My name is Morgan and I’m 17 ¾ years old, I love cosmetology, I attend high school, and like you, I am sexually active. My boyfriend lives with me and we “get nasty” a healthy amount of times per week. Despite that, I am currently not, and never have been, pregnant. This is because of two things: the pill, and the relationship I maintain with my parents. I commend you for carrying that baby to term and making an immense effort to give that child a better life. I could never do such a thing. If I’m irresponsible enough to get pregnant, then I need to be responsible to take care of a new family member, or be responsible enough to nip it in the bud. Those are the choices I have given myself. I believe those are the choices you should have given yourself, and here’s why: if you had gotten an abortion, you probably wouldn’t have ruined like five pairs of jeans by sewing an elastic band to them. I can not afford to ruin my wardrobe, I wear Tommy Hilfiger. If you had gotten an abortion, you’d probably have been a lot more emotionally stable over the course of the past year. If you had gotten an abortion, your bladder capacity wouldn’t shit out after three or four hours (for the rest of your life) AND you wouldn’t have stretch marks. If you had had an abortion, you wouldn’t need to live with the guilt knowing you were incapable of taking care of someone that you created. Now, if you had kept your baby your life would have been flipped upside-down to be completely honest. But at least you’d be taking responsibility for your mishap. There are more cons than pros to becoming a teen mother, but I think that its better than shipping your baby off to live with an anal uptight version of Jennifer Garner.
